  • Why is it different?

One Note is an idea capture app. I get that. But it doesn't mean my use is so narrowly restricted. After 40 years of using Word, I could wish that all MS text editing tools behaved one way. There are functions in Word, like insert horizontal line, that I want in One Note. By this time I would think that good programming would avoid recreating the wheel, so One Note and Word should share the same WYSIWYG display engine with similar UI to get at all the features. The page organization is too simple: it supports only a two-tier structure, but I can see no utility functions that make that a benefit. Why not give me an arbitrarily deep hierarchy with full drag-and-drop to organize the pages, page group properties (such as or tab color), property inheritance, and so on. Your data model might not currently handle that, but it's become pretty much standard in any tool with a large, structure page volume.
  • OneNote is really good but it could be great

I love how there is endless space to create many different things. However, I wish there was an easier way to print or download your notebook as a PDF! Currently everything gets broken up on to many different pages. Even if one writes a simple paragraph it often ends up getting cut off when trying to print or make a PDF. There is also not as many options to edit a table as there is in excel or even word. For exapmple you can not remove the borders of just a few cells, it will remove the border for all cells! I also think if you could make it an option to see where someone elses pointer/mouse is when you or collaborating on a notebook similar to google docs. Lastly, if I could bend my arrows when addign a shape that would be extermly helpful. Overall, I enjoy the product but it so close to being great!!

My notebooks are not downloading on OneNote for Mac. I can even create a new notebook and that syncs, but my old ones do not download to this app.

First time I ran it it said it couldn't create a notebook, that I should relaunch. I spent ten minutes searching solutions, found many who shared my problem, lengthy complex solutions that didn't work. EPIC FAIL.

  • Janky, unintuitive, difficult to use

Just your typical Microsoft garbage app that nobody in their right mind would willingly use. A typical user is likely strong-armed into using it due to some corporate policy giving them no choice or they're a Microsoftie unwilling to venture out to a land where software is intuitive, relatively bug-free, and a joy to use.
