Spends more time trying to collect data than it does actually loading websites. Terrible.

I remember using Firefox all the way back in 2007 it was one of my favorite browsers through high school and afterwards. As time went on however the quality has seemed to dwindle, I’ve constantly suffered hurdles that other browsers I’ve used have not experienced not once I even tried variants such Palemoon but it also suffered the same issues having inherited them from what it was derived from, Mozilla has attempted to make Firefox more appealing with the release of Firefox quantum. I had hoped things had changed with quantum but they haven’t, problems still have shown their ugly head with version 126, pages don’t load properly leaving a white page that must be reloaded over and over to get anything usable or tapping on things open content in a new tab without a way to turn it off. So I’m just gonna give up and stick with the flood of chromium browsers I guess there is a reason why those browsers dominate the market and now I fully understand why.

The context menu on the right side always opens scrolled down to the bottom instead of the top so you have to swipe down to pull the menu to the top every time you want to bookmark a link. Annoying.

Nice, fast, easy, safe (?) and reliable, use it on all of my devices

I really love Firefox, but on iOS the lack of Safari-style tiles for favorites on the homepage kills it for me. It feels like a very simple feature to implement, and it is something I notice every single time I open the app. There is a shortcuts feature that is ALMOST it, but not close enough. This seems more designed as a feature to push the supported shortcuts than something actually intended to be helpful for users. Setting rows and pinning stuff is not the same as Safari, where I can have one tile, or ten, and add/remove very easily. Unfortunately, until a parity feature exists, I will continue to use Safari on iOS. I hope this is something you will add in the future so I can switch to being an all-Firefox user across devices.

5/15/24 update. It’s crashing again regularly. It does however reopen quickly. Still not acceptable. 1/13/24 Revision: after the latest update things have improved dramatically. The update states that it is for an unrelated reason, but the 30 second per operation lag seems to be gone and you can use FF again after several months of it not working or being functional on even a very basic level. Whatever they did on the latest update has mad very substantial improvements. There is a new iOS update tonight, so we’ll see what happens afterwards. At least this is a very positive step in the right direction as far as getting FF back on track. Good job, but it shouldn’t have taken this long. Still unusable more than a month after ios17. Why is this so problematic? Ff corrupted my private tabs and they wouldn’t come up at all. I used these tabs for reference pages that I would never remember how I found and wouldn’t know where to look for them. Something is glitchy in the new code and the whole browser is laggy and unusable. 20-30 seconds to switch tabs and open the current page. It’s just a mess all around. Super slow and you have to wait forever to do anything. Ff is no longer a viable option on iOS. I’ve tried to hang on because i have so many book marks saved that I didn’t want to lose, but Firefox iOS has gone down the tubes. You can’t report an issue unless you log in. Sorry, not going to do that. How can they not know that the browser isn’t working? Why haven’t they fixed it? Very disappointed and frustrated. Giving up on ff, since they can’t get it right on iOS.
