"Yueju Accomp" combines the traditional Cantonese operatic music with modern technology, in order to provide the public with a user-friendly application to experience the accompaniment of Cantonese operatic music as well as building a teaching and learning platform for primary, secondary schools and universities. In this application, users can simply turn their tablets into the music instruments used in Cantonese opera and act like a musician by playing different repertoires, hence, to bring the users a brand-new performance and learning experience. Features of "Yueju Accomp": l Special designed Gong-che notation keyboard and percussion keyboard l The Expression Grid is designed for users to manipulate the dynamics and articulation with a set of multi-touch gestures on tablets l 12 types of melodic instruments, 14 types of percussion instruments with 5 Sins are available for selection l Most of the instrument soundfonts are produced by professional musicians with live recording in studio l 10 default scores are provided, users can also import their score file (in PDF format) into the app This application is developed by Professor Leung Bo Wah of Research Centre for Transmission of Cantonese Opera, EdUHK and Dr. Leung Chi Hin of Department of Cultural and Creative Arts, EdUHK, with the support of the EdUHK iTech Fund.
