  • Misleading and only suitable for food allergies not intolerances

First off the app costs $60 which is pretty steep for something that’s so poorly designed. It’s pretty much useless if you’re navigating food intolerances and not food allergies. My Dr has me doing an elimination diet which involves avoiding legumes (including soybeans) and some other things. I have no food allergies and have not marked anything as an allergy. However ingredients listed in allergen statements still flag products as being unsafe for me. Even if the allergen statement is specifically saying that a product was processed in a facility free of soy and other common allergens. This causes hundreds of products to be incorrectly marked as unsafe and prevents me from being able to filter out red light items. So I paid $60 to still have to check the ingredients on every product my stores sell without being able to reliably filter anything out. I have tried working with their support. They did fix at least a couple products that were flagging for stating that they produced in an allergen free facility, so that’s something. However their solution for the other allergen flags was for me to manually change soy to flag as green or yellow light. Except that would cause it to flag incorrectly safe when it’s actually an ingredient. Their next suggestion was for me to set it up exactly how it’s already set and doesn’t work. They said they’re changing the system The so uses to be less confusing, so they know their app is functioning poorly. But they still see fit to mislead people into paying to use it.

  • Dozens of plan options and prices

I canceled my free trial and on the confirmation screen is a See All Plans link. When I click that I see monthly and annual subscriptions at all different prices. So if I select an annual membership for $19.99 will I actually get that or will it charge me $60? Regardless, it’s frustrating that anyone would try to profit off people who are already struggling with food restrictions.

If you are blind or can't read I might understand this app. But if you are fully abled why use this app? What this app does is it scans a barcode on a product that is 2 inches away from the ingredients list and then guess what the app does, it tells you the ingredients. You have to know what you're allergic to in order to use this app. Therefore you should be able to read the ingredients on the package and figure it out yourself. I just saw another review that said "I looked up this type of food and it gave me so many options of things I could have!" Google is free people. This app, to get all of its features, is not. And, again, reading the ingredients on things that are already in your hands is also free. This app also doesn't really understand that you can be allergic to one thing and not another. I downloaded it (and then never used it because I could just read the ingredients myself) because I have food allergies and I checked off "all nuts" as an absolutely not food but since the FDA says that coconut is a tree nut (it's not) the app automatically checked it as a no. I'm not allergic to coconut. I had to go back through and check off everything involving coconut. Coconut milk, coconut shavings, coconut extract, coconut fiber, etc. And I tried searching for Salmon and it wasn't even on the list. I'm also deathly allergic to the casein protein in dairy. That means any type of dairy is a no go for me. But for some reason the app didn't check off lactose or milk solids. This is a stupid app. Read the ingredients people don't waste your time (or money) on this app.

Found this app by chance, doing the 7 da trial but will most likely subscribe, it really takes the guessing game out of what’s safe to eat, especially for someone like me with a long list of food allergies, I have to eat gluten free, low histamine, no eggs, etc. What was surprising to see is that a lot of of the foods I thought were safe have ingredients that I cannot have and always wondered why I was having reactions to. The one thing that I think would make this app better is once you select the ingredients that you need to eliminate from your diet that they will give you suggestions on what is safe for you to eat instead of having to scroll through the app to see what’s green lit
  • Not Celiac User Friendly

We downloaded this hoping it could help make grocery shopping quicker and easier, easily scanning the boxes and getting an accurate response about it being allergy safe. We scanned a few items at home, all sorts of different things. We scanned these guacamole Tostitos, it said they may contain these selected allergies, then we scanned Lucky Charms cereal, which is a certified gluten free product, and it still said may contain these allergies, I figured it was because of the oats. So I scanned certified gluten free graham crackers, still the same thing, this went on for a few other products. I do not think this app is worth a celiacs time or money.

Used to use this app a lot for the free features, but unfortunately the only option now is to have a subscription.
