  • Laughable - returning gear.

In these days of tech, smart everything, and phones bordering supercomputers, Garmin, your messenger platform is an utter joke and justifying more and more why I should return the watch for a refund. You expect payment to send and receive text from a paired phone using my phone’s data plan? What?!? There are only a couple more expensive watches your company sells than what I purchased and you want more to use MY services through this thing. That’s unsat. Your products are great in theory but don’t support themselves through user functionality without dipping further into customer’s wallets. Sad. You can do better than expected customers to nod off your monetary requirements for nonsensical garbage. There are tons of sheeple (not misspelled) out there, but I’m not one. Having experienced firsthand the exploitation, you can have your gear back. Again, sad. Let’s consider all reductions in almost all capacities concerning using your gear over cheaper and muuuuuuuuch more user friendly alternatives, and perhaps you’ll chuckle too. Everything about my Garmin experience has been met with, signup and pay us more for this, that, and all the in-betweens because we don’t want to include it in our state of the art wares. I went along with paying for more updated maps, but stop here. The apps aren’t great at all. My old $100 flip phone has better, more concise, and clearer access to maps than this watch even after paying for a subscription for upgraded access. On the topic of watches, who sells a product they reads a comparison of with solar and without on the box, but then later teaches through the owner’s manual the solar isn’t functional in the way the product is sold, whaaaaat? For any future customer, I wasn’t being rhetorical. It’s Garmin. I suppose I should have downloaded the book before purchasing your product, but I doubt that would have been accessible. You can have your watch back, and I’ll purchase something everything this one is and more for less. Congrats on the non-refundable $49.99 subscription fee for what should be included with your watch. What a joke.
  • Will not pair with inreach

I’ve followed instructions to a tee in every possible interpretation and while my iPhone can pair with the inreach, the app never sees the inreach.
  • Useless!

I used to send InReach starting and safely stopping messages to my people. But now they have to download test I another messenger app, this d time from Garmin. Why should they? It used to work just fine with whatever messaging apps they have on their phone. Garmin basically bricked my $600 InReach device.
  • Dumbest App Ever

Two separate apps to do what Earthmate alone used to do.
  • Mini 2 Check

I’m still figuring it out. So far, everything seems to be working well. When I updated my Check in messages, it tells me to make sure to sync. Not sure what that means!

They offer truly frustrating software. Activation is tedious and problematic. I want to throw the device at the wall. Awful software.
  • Can’t activate

I have scoured the app and the inReach messenger device and the words “pair device” do not exist. This should be a priority and I’ve wasted 30 minutes trying to pair this thing. Activating an account should be easy too but those words are only on the device, not on the app…
  • Could it get any worse?
