Why do I have to pay money to be able to properly accommodate for deaf / hard of hearing people? Scam.
  • unaffordable

i think it’s dumb how this app comes up first when i type in free asl learning, and then makes you pay EIGHTEEN dollars a month before you can even finish the first level😭 what a joke. i wouldn’t pay over $2 a month for this

I was stoked the first few days using this app. I pay for a yearly Duolingo subscription and it is expensive but they don’t offer ASL. I’m using it for Spanish. This app operates pretty much just like Duolingo so it was easy for me to use. Until…I go to continue to the next lesson and I can’t. The entire app ceases to work after a couple days without an expensive membership. I am very low income currently and likely won’t be able to continue my paid Duolingo next renewal either let alone adding a whole other expensive one on too. At least on Duolingo they have a free version. Not here. I don’t understand why it is listed as a free app. It might as well just show as a paid app. It doesn’t count as a free app if only the first 2 or 3 lessons are free and then the entire app becomes unusable without an expensive subscription. They definitely make it seem like it’ll continue that way and they just dangle the carrot and rip it away. I was excited to be practicing ASL again. I took a few semesters in college and haven’t used it since. It’s been cool to see how, at least in the couple lessons I got to do, that I remembered all of the signs. I was excited to continue and see how much I remembered. I know for a fact I have learned sooo much more Spanish off of apps than years in school ever did. I was hoping the same for ASL. Guess not. Developers, do one of the two things please, be honest and show it is a paid app or make a free version. You can’t have it both ways without being shady. Do better.

I just finished Lesson 1 & I’m thoroughly enjoying this ASL app. To me, signing can be very intimidating because I feel people sign at warp speed..the clever & beauty of this app is that it has a “Turtle” icon/button to turn on if you want more clarity in the hand movements. Also, these lessons can help me support the special needs classrooms I work in..& may also help give some of the students a “safe” way to communicate their basic needs & wants. I’m excited to continue my ASL learning & education. 💕 Thank you, Lingvano!!🫶🏼

    - Needs a dark mode. My eyes are strained looking at all the white space. - Playback option. It would be nice to replay videos anytime without having to wait for the gif to loop/finish in case you missed something the first time. - Different speed options. There’s only normal and slow. Should be at least 3-5 different speed settings to toggle from. - And lastly. Pricing. Not that the app it’s too much (it is a little bit) but if there’s any online promotions every once in a while that’ll definitely bring in more people as well as returning users. Overall very helpful app <3
