  • My experience with this app

So far I have had crumbling relations with friends or others, it has been a nightmare which feels like a breach of privacy. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if my phone camera was watching me and reporting what I do. I pray on the downfall of anyone who agrees with bark. Simply, I wouldn’t doubt it if you were lonely in high school or your whole life so you decide to make this app to ruin others high school life. I PRAY ON YOUR DOWNFALL, I DONT WANT A “we’re only here to keep you safe! We do the bare minimum of reporting what you do. We are kid friendly and want to help you!” You people are despised by many people of this generation, you would be better off remaining anonymous if you were ever to speak to anyone, anyone who’s in high school. I hope your car gets keyed and tires slashed. (Bark app when anything happens)
  • Complete invasion of privacy

I hate this app because it flags everything I do, I can’t say to my friends “wanna play war of wizzards later?” Or “when do you want to play beat saber?” It takes photos of everything and sends it to my parents. My friends can’t even send most emojis or it’s flagged as bullying, violince, etc. I like to have privacy and idc if my parents put something on my phone to see some of what I’m doing but this app is WAY to much. I literally can’t even search up “cool shooter games to play with friends” or els it’s flagged at this point privacy is out the windo because my parents see LITERALLY EVERYTHING. This app is too much and the developers should put some option or something so my parents don’t see everything on my phone. I get this app is for kids safety but it feels more like a see whatever your kids doing and never let them have any privacy again!

I understand that Bark is good—and it’s intended to keep kids safe. That’s how my parents explained it when they installed it on my phone. However, the app is overly invasive and flags things erroneously. It has caused much heartache in my family. For example, I have been in multiple group chats where it flagged things that were harmless. I can only text my parents (which, by the way, is super boring) for this reason. I also do not have access to Safari or google and my parents say they will fix it but they never do. Literally I can only text and call people on my phone. The app is also really buggy and my parents blame me when it doesn’t work on their end, saying I disabled something. I can’t even count how much I’ve been accused of messing with the app or disabling the VPN when I wasn’t even on my phone. This is probably the worst app I have ever had, but my parental refuse to delete it.
  • POV of Child with Bark

As soon as I saw this app, I knew it was going to be problems. Yes, I have been bullied via message, but that is no need to invade your child’s privacy. I text my friends and they may say things. It alerts the parents which is really annoying. Parents shouldn’t go to an app. They should try teaching them good habits. It’s also annoying that it tracks you so you really can’t go anywhere. This app really shouldn’t be a thing. Plus simple things like YouTube and the web doesn’t work. Just don’t get the app. Please developers, make a different app that is actually good. Thanks!

I understand the point of this app. Parents set this up to make sure their kids are safe. But it really bugs me and my mom. I have to turn off location because it keeps sending my mom notifications. I could be right in front of her, and she will continuously get notifications saying “Sophia has arrived home.” It’s really annoying. My mom tried to set it up yesterday, and it didn’t work. Instead, it stopped my Pinterest from working, my YouTube, sending photos on WhatsApp, and a lot more. I can’t even use Chrome. Overall, the only reason this is at least one star is because screen time limits keep my grades up.
  • this app is terrible

it destroyed my relationship with my parents. i felt unsafe having this app downloaded and felt like i needed to sneak around more. the app was supposed to keep me safe but it put me in more danger, because when i was struggling with mental health i wouldn’t text anyone or reach out for help anymore because i didn’t want my parents to get notifications so i was in a bad situation. i just think this app violated privacy and even tho i don’t have it anymore, my relationship with my parents will forever be changed. it almost felt like they were a guard and i was a prisoner because i felt so unsafe and i felt like i couldn’t talk to people when i needed to.
  • Meow App Concept for bark:

Hey so I have very mixed feelings on this app since it really only reports the NEGATIVE stuff you’re doing on your device and makes your parents see all your flaws and mistakes via device. I get that you made this app to keep kids safe and protected from random creeps on the internet (which I love btw I feel so much better knowing that my parents got my back) but I hate when it just stalks your social media and gets you in trouble by your parents. It only happened like twice to me and I’ve had this app for awhile, but during one of them, my parents took away my phone for 5 MONTHS STRAIGHT AND I STILL HAVE YET TO GET IT BACK!!!! ):< Not only am I super paranoid all the time that my parents will see some iNaPprOpRiAtE stuff I’ve been doing PRIVATELY, but I’m also afraid that they’ll only see the negative stuff I’m doing, and not the positive. That’s where my idea comes in. I imagine a built in feature of the app being a separate section called Meow where instead of reporting all the BAD stuff you’ve been doing, It’ll report all the GOOD stuff. Like videos with positive messages, digital art pieces you’ve created (it only senses the NOT SUPER DARK ones), and videos you’ve created that are super good. I think this feature will save a LOT of kids a LOT of stress. And instead of your parents being disappointed in you, they’ll be proud of you instead. YOU HAVE MY COMPLETE PERMISSION TO USE THIS CONCEPT YOU DON’T HAVE TO GIVE ME CREDIT ALSO DON’T JUST COMMENT "Hi! Our mission is to help keep kids safer, while still giving them privacy by never showing all of their data to their parents! Parents are only alerted to potential concerns. We sincerely hope that you have a discussion with your parents about what your family agrees is an appropriate and safe use of technology and the internet. 💚 " LIKE USUALLY, PLEASE INSTEAD COMMET YOUR ACTUAL THOUGHTS ON THIS. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING.
