Description

Lockdown is the world's first Open Source firewall for iOS -- and now available on Mac! Lockdown allows you to block any connection to any domain and protecting your privacy across the web. For free. — FEATURES — - Block any domain / service - Works for all apps, not just the browser - Useful preconfigured defaults - See what's being blocked - Optional VPN for additional privacy — BEST-IN-CLASS PRIVACY — - Open Source: Since firewalls have access to *everything* you do, it's critical that any firewall you use should be open source. Lockdown is 100% open source. - On-Device: Lockdown does its magic on-device and doesn't connect to any servers, or third-party analytics, or anything else. This way, everything you do stays private to you. - World's Simplest Privacy Policy: Here's the entirety of it (July 23rd, 2019) - "Everything Lockdown does stays on your device, so what you see is literally what you get, and nothing more or less, because that's the way it should be." — TRANSPARENCY YOU CAN TRUST — - Other privacy apps lie on their Privacy Policy and secretly sell user data, even if they promise not to - To solve this issue, the Openly Operated certification requires apps to *prove* their Privacy Policy - Lockdown is Openly Operated certified with a public 38-page audit report, and audited multiple times by security professionals - View full OpenAudit Report: https://openaudit.com/lockdownprivacy — PRESS COVERAGE — - App Store's "Apps We Love" - Featured February 2020 - Business Insider - FastCompany - Forbes - MacRumors - 9to5Mac - Cult of Mac - The Mac Observer - iCulture - iClarified - AppAdvice Follow us on Twitter: @lockdown_hq Send your questions and comments to team@lockdownhq.com Lockdown - https://lockdownhq.com Privacy Policy - https://lockdownhq.com/privacy Terms of Use - https://lockdownhq.com/terms

This used to be the best app for blocking trackers and privacy. Now it's garbage. Once free domain blocking is now hidden behind a paywall. An intrusive ad to upgrade everywhere. And the firewall frequentley drops it's the internet connection. Oh, and don't forget how it drains the battery super fast. Way to ruin what was once a great essential app.

This app has a learning curve. Use privacy report to record addresses you want to block for instance. I have been suffering from a rogue developer constantly corrupting my devices and practising identity theft and DNS attacks, network extensions, etc. etc. Lockdown has finally provided me with a tool that I can use to curb his incursions. It took me a month of downloading erasing, reinstalling; but now for the first time I am leaving a review on a Mac under my control with no preboot disk and keychain access loops. I am not free of the fool by any means but now I can communicate enough to fight and survive. I cannot thank the staff from the janitor to the developer enough for a breath of air. If I had the money I would pay 500 dollars for this opprtunity. Great Job!!!
  • Would love to use the Firewall, but...

I would love to use the firewall feature alone because the VPN is woefully short on features. It has two location settings – East and West, doesn’t have a kill switch, and turns off often when in sleep mode. If my MacBook is on, I want my VPN on. As others have mentioned, you can’t just turn on the firewall and use another VPN. I understand the VPN is their revenue stream, but until it’s updated with some basic features, it’s not worth it. And my VPN has just started to offer “Block trackers and malicious sites.” The competition is stepping up. I hope Lockdown will meet the challenge.

Lockdown is an incredible app that I have on all of my devices. It has recently stopped working on my MacOS and it also cuts off Safari Private Relay when it is on. On my iPhone & iPad it works flawlessly and allows Private Relay to function properly. Only issue is on MacOS otherwise great app!

Great app! I use this on all Apple devices and love it. I'm amazed at the number of trackers which it blocks, which means I'm being tracked otherwise--moment to moment--by Facebook, et. al.

  • App Stopped Working

App stopped working after the Os 15.3 update! Not sure if it's the update or the app. Hence 3 stars. Worked well for a while! After the update, I logged into app store, on ios, app store stays on even when settings is turned off and no longer blocks nor does it refresh to clear block logs, now the hide link is stays highlighted. And when I click the menu it closes the app. It also doesn't allow me to add to the block list to refresh the list. On ios app the ransomware does not have anything blocked, and says it is under maitenance, on Mac Os, it showed some at first, but not sure if these domains added to block list are interfering with blocking. Please fix this, otherwise the app is great for blocking ads and unwanted trackers. Thanks for your help!
  • Works mostly good for iOS, not so much for MacOS

I do like this app on my iphone, it has significantly reduced tracking by unwanted agencies. However, it frequently prevents my late model Macbook air (the last intel based MB Air) running Monterey from connecting to the internet. Even though my macbook shows it is connected to the internet no app (i.e., browser, app store, etc) can make a connection to the internet. Turning off the firewall in Lockdown restores my connecitvity. I use the firewall, not the secure tunnel. The other irritating aspect on both iOS and MacOS is that it also prevents browsers from connecting to any site that is an AD site (i.e., advertising site). When a product is listed as an AD lockdown prevents me from connecting with the message "Safari cannot open this page because the address is invalid", which it is not invalid. I turn off Lockdown and it loads. This is particularly irritating since these are legitimate sites (like amazon).
  • Doesn't work with other VPNs

Unfortuntaley other VPNs cannot connect with Lockdown running. Otherwise it would have been a wonderful app to keep around and use. Other alternatives are coming soon that will work with other VPNs.
  • Secure Tunnel Not Secure

When I checked my IP address for my Mac it still shows the information in my home state, even though I turned the tunnel and set it for the East Region. On my iPad and iPhone, there are no issues. Please update this! I am paying yearly for a reason.
