Wipr is both the most lightweight and effective solution for a cleaner web I’ve used on my iPhone. I love the app so much that I also purchased it for my Mac. Supporting small developers like this one is the best way to make sure quality apps like this keep coming
  • It just works (make sure to enable Wipr Extra)

I will be honest. This is like any other adblocker in the App Store. The big difference is Wipr Extra feature which gets rid off stubborn ads on social media platforms like the bird site or the alien site if you know what I mean. It's the only thing that blocks them consistently but it's easy to overlook so make sure to enable Wipr Extra on all websites for all your profiles to see this in action under Settings. This is also a great content blocker in general compared to the others because you will run into far fewer false positives and it is not conflicting with other extensions like some other blockers do. It also doesn't come with any of the VPN/DNS bloatware which again causes conflicts. Just a simple content blocker on the surface but extremely potent in the background. This is a must-have on Safari for iOS.

I honestly haven’t had a chance to test how potent this app is at blocking ads or cookies etc. I noticed an enormous dip in my phone’s connectivity. For e.g a 250mb app was showing at taking 20 minutes to download on a 958 mbps WiFi connection. As soon as I switched off this app’s extension, it took less than a second. So not sure what’s going on here. But that’s been my experience.

I don’t remember why, but AdGuard fell off. I found Wipr as an alternative. Now I have it installed on all my Apple devices. It works great and blocks all of my adds. Can’t really ask for more than that!

Long time Adguard Pro user here. For Safari Wipr is lighter, simpler, more effective, and more up to date than any other blocker extension I’ve tried. Using test pages that can be found with a simple web search, Wipr consistently blocked 100% of test ads, did so without any tinkering necessary besides a quick and easy initial setup, and did so without any subscription necessary. Adguard Pro only blocked 90% of ads on the same test, despite a much larger selection of block lists, and despite their advanced blocking equivalent to Wipr Extra. And updating lists in Adguard is a long and intensive task, in my experience they do not update for you automatically. Wipr is set it and forget it. For both MacOS and iOS I now pair Wipr for Safari with Adguards DNS configuration profile for the best system wide blocking experience. Wipr is indispensable (Update: I was mistaken, adguard does apparently update in the background. My testing results still stand.)

Works perfectly and easily. Just update frequently. They fixed a bug that annoyed me with the app and now it’s quite literally perfect.
  • Perfect.

Doesn’t seem to stop a single ad on the news sites I frequent.
