Description

Twitch is where thousands of communities come together for our favorite streamers, for the games we love, for the lulz, for each other, for whatever. Download Twitch and join millions enjoying live games, music, sports, esports, podcasts, cooking shows, IRL streams, and whatever else crosses our community’s wonderfully absurd minds. We’ll see you in chat. Here’s a convenient list of other awesome things about Twitch: Everyone is “about” community. We actually are one: Whatever you nerd out about, you can find your people on Twitch. Give support, get support: Find new streamers and subscribe to your favorites. Plus, unlock exclusive perks for your support. Start your own channel: The Twitch app is one of the easiest ways to start streaming. Just create an account, go live directly from the app, and bring people together around whatever you’re passionate about. You never know what you’ll find: Popular games are always live, but so are music festivals, rocket launches, street tours of Tokyo, and goat yoga. Yes, really. Dark mode: Y’all love this one. Black and purple have never looked this good together. iOS app does not display Watch Streak. on the other hand, your iOS app properly shows that a person is Banned from a channel, properly gives the viewer the Unban Request option and properly permits viewers to Report channel owners from the channel owner's profile page--none of which your Android app does.
  • Twitch isn’t TikTok, stop trying to be.

Opening the app takes you to Twitch’s clone of a TikTok feed and not even to the streamer from a notification. The small following button located within the video window is not intuitive at all. Look at analytics since this update and fire whoever told the UI team to do this.

I like watching streams on Twitch, but the new clip layout (which I assume is meant to mimic TikTok) is not a good look. Firstly, the new clip page on mobile (which was already a bit of a hassle to navigate) doesn’t include the names of the clips now. I suppose this works well for automated clips, but this is going to be an immediate turn off for people looking for a specific clip. New clips made have both a landscape mode for computers & portrait mode for phones. But very few (if any) streamers record with portrait mode in mind. So mobile clips either have to be awkwardly cut up to fit the format or are just deadpan center. This comes across as trend chasing for it’s own sake, and it’s unlikely to have a positive impact in the long term. Rather than use the rudimentary portrait tools on Twitch, I reckon most creators will use other programs available to edit their clips and then upload to other sites like TikTok. Watch Twitch for livestreams. Watch TikTok for portrait clips.

When you open the app why are you jumping in to preview some random stream? Why is the following button some weird floating tab? If you end up scrolling why do you get streams you don’t follow? I only use twitch on desktop now this is trash.

WHY ARE THERE SO MANY FURRY STREAMS?!
  • Notifications and UI

For some reason since the terrible ui update I've been getting less notifications for the channels I follow, I literally don't even know they went live sometimes and ended up missing streams. The only reason I even noticed this is because I went to check the vods and saw at least three streams I missed and with the ui change I didn't see the stream when opening the app like you used to be able to. Please bring back the list of livestreams instead of making me scroll through random streams. I know there is a section to see followed streamers but I don't care, the scrolling feature doesn't always show the streamers you follow for some reason and it's stupid. It's honestly kind of impressive how much this update has ruined the app, I just keep finding more things wrong with it. Good job.
