  • “Features” don’t work

4/20/2024 the reply to my 10/23/2023 post was to go to some forum?!!! A few versions ago, auto-download worked for one (1) of the several podcasts that used to autodownload. Then the next version, autodownload didn’t work at all, then the version after that, four (4) podcasts autodownloaded, but the next version NO autodownload and that’s the same now with version 7.61. In addition, it’s background activity is 95 and 100%, such that it drives me to dump this nonsense. The former owner/developer was good until the current owner/developer. 10/25/2023 Since the current owners bought the app in mid-2021 the features no longer work, i.e., preferences for subscribed podcast do NOT work. No auto downloads, no notifications, no add to up next. So, one has to launch the app, tap a podcast, tap download, choose top or bottom of the queue, then go to the queue list and drag it to desired position of the queue list, i.e., not top nor bottom. So, why subscribe if nothing works? I kept thinking they would fix, but now after two years…and all the other unfixed issues that other users have reported here and elsewhere…

Love this app. It does everything I need it to do, and even more! Easy to use, great queuing, great organization. There is nothing I don’t like.

I’ve had this app for years and listen to a lot of podcasts. the most recent few versions have consistent glitches with playback and playlists. looking for another app.
  • Show Notes Broken in Latest Update

Latest version of iOS app seems to have broken the Show Notes functionality. Many podcast episodes now show a "Unable to find show notes for this episode. Try again" error. Only started after latest version update and did not occur before. Force closing app and restarting makes notes show up. New bug not seen before. Paid user for 4 yrs.
  • Full-featured, yet annoying

The app is mostly nice, but some parts of it are really annoying. Already finished episodes from the shows, which are set to add to Up Next automatically, are often being re-added to the bottom of the Up Next list for some reason. Even though I am a paying subscriber for the Plus version, I am getting in-app ads for the locked features from the Patron version. The Plus plan costs more than other popular podcast clients full plans and yet I need to pay even more to get a proper client without locked features. I don’t care that those are “early access”, why am I seeing them in the UI if I can’t use them (speaking of chapter preselection)?

My go to podcasts app for years. A little buggier than usual the last couple of years. However, the most recent update has fixed most of the issues I’ve been experiencing. Kudos to the devs.
  • Pretty Great. Still Unfixed Bugs.

I used Stitcher for 7 years until Sirius bought it and shut it down. Been using Google Podcasts lately and was dreading to have to use Spotify or Apple now that Google Podcasts is shutting down. I hate using Apple Podcasts and Spotify because they ban or don’t carry way to many podcasts. Plus they are awful podcasts players. I can get just about all the podcasts I’m into, all on pocket casts. Very user friendly and simple, beautiful app. Nice audio controls. One issue I have is the “in progress” feature doesn’t really work. The only time the “in progress” tab works is with latest episodes. If I have a long 5 hour podcast to chip away at a little each day, it won’t show up on the “in progress” tab unless it’s a latest podcast episode, which is very annoying. Also the stats randomly reset to 0 hours after using the app for a couple months. I’ve seen complaints about it that are 4 months old and the app developers still haven’t fixed the bug. And recently the app skips entire podcasts in the queue. If I’m fast forwarding the last minute of a podcast it will completely skip and archive the next podcast in the queue. Also I would like the ability to adjust audio speed to hundreds instead of the current tenths. I was initially so impressed with the app the I subscribed to the $99 a year. Kinda regretting it now.
  • Bookmarks Now Behind A Paywall???

    1
    By Why a nickname??????
So, with a recent update, it now appears that a podcast’s bookmarks are now inaccessible to users unless they pay for the “Plus” version. If this is true, and it certainly seems like it is, since the app is telling me this is so, I will go and use another podcast app. Of which there are several good options, that I’m hoping and assuming are not hiding the extra work of listing bookmarks and other related show notes, that podcasters work diligently on. So sad.
  • App Crashes after latest update

Never had an issue before 4-10-2024. Latest update now crashes the app constantly. Of this continues I will have to uninstall and find a better app.
  • Best one yet.
