  • A strong editor with some quirks

Such as: No retina support. No svg support. Hyperlink ordering is not intuitive. Changes to the image directory sometimes require a restart to access. No apparent opacity adjustment. Fewer than desired number of alterable preferences (example: default font size). Some notable strengths: Pixel per pixel nudge with arrow keys. Subcontainer tool. All system fonts accessible. Good preview function. Detailed adjustment of tool attributes. HTML knowledge unnecessary. Output bitmap quality is superb. Two tips, in case you find yourself working with this program. 1) How to outwit the intra-document hyperlinks: if not working as expected, try creating a cluster of anchors and targeting the median one. 2) Wrestling with copy/paste: understand that the container is copied exactly, including position, meaning that the destination position must exist numerically. Is it worth the price? Still undecided on that one.

I have purchased so many wysiwig web creation tools over the years, only to be completely disappointed each and every time by their lack of wysiwigness. However, WebsitePainter is truely fantastic. It has allowed me to create a custom website using ExpressionEngine VERY quickly, efficiently and with the ability to add code as needed in almost every place I needed. This is a truly amazing product which I have and will continue to tell others about. What an amazing product!

Straight forward and easy to use from install to the uploading of the finished file. I have no plans to use anything else. When uploading, it is best not to consider using a second program like Fetch. Websitepainter will do it easily. Though I am sure Fetch does the job for other files, it didn't do the job with this format.
  • Surprised Apple would allow this to be sold

This offers only several bland templates, so you will not save any creative time. It is not wysiwyg, because it publishes/loads incorrectly. However, we can only publish locally due to the filename extention problem. Our server cannot read the file. It cannot be saved as html, just under the ridiculous app filename extention. This has been a waste of my money, and worse, a waste of my time. I am surprised and disappointed the app store would even offer this.

  • Stuck inside a box

This app is a box, creating pretty ugly and ad hoc HTML code and with very limited interactions with existing HTML snippets/sites. For instance, I still do not know how to impory my *existing* HTML-based project/site into this box. So, if you know you will never ever leave this box, well, go ahead, spend that money. For the rest of us, it is an unusable application. Ah, and for what it does, it is far too expensive. I sincerely wish there would be a refund policy within X days on more expensive items at this app store.

Don't waste your money like I did. Leave this page! Use iWeb instead. Much better!
  • I paid for the app, each page publishes stating otherwise.

I am enjoying using the product. It works well. When I publish the page, the footer states "Created with an unregistered version of Website Painter" I can not find a way to register the software. Back to iWeb.
  • Paid for but still has nag at bottom of pages!!!? where is store customer service?

I just paid $40 for this hoping to fill in gaps where iWeb is lacking (like templates saving) but find that the software is just the trial demo version and is posting a nag at the bottom of previewed and published pages. Apple is going to need a customer service department with this app store to handle these types of concerns as the current policy of refering me to the publisher is no good seeing as how Apple is the one taking my money! bogus to both apple and website painter
