  • Crashes on M1 iMac

By I'm really bad wtih nicknames
Repeatedly crashes on M1 iMac when trying to view textbooks at greater than 125% zoom, which is necessary with textbooks. Update 1/2023: The above crashes are no longer happening, so I changed the review to two stars. However this app needs to be updated to work natively with Applie Silicon rather than needing Rosetta. Amazon has had plenty of time, not to mention its abundant resources compared with many other developers, to accomplish that goal by this point.
  • STILL no Apple Silicon version??

    By just another geek
The App is fine as far as it goes...but why in the world is there still no Universal or Apple Silicon version. Why still an Intel version, knowing darned well that support via Rosetta is _temporary_? Not impressed.
  • crashes constantly

For the life of me, I don't understand why Apple even allows Amazon to market this app. I'm lucky if I can read even five pages of a book before it crashes. It crashes without fail every single time I try to use it. Amazon support has no help to offer but the usual "Shut down and reboot your device," "Delete and reinstall the app," "De-register and re-register your device" — none of which has any effect on the constant crashing of the app. My Kindle Paperwhite reader works great. I can only conclude that Amazon wants you on one of their own devices, not on your Mac.
  • Constantly crashes

I reached out to Amazon tech support for this issue, but they gave me the generic instructions of reinstalling, rebooting, restarting the app and my Mac. None of which solved the issue. I bought some textbooks for school and it has been crashing multiple times. I have the notebook open so I can highlight and take notes simultaneously, but it seems like the app can't handle all these demands. I have also had the issue of some lengthier notes I've written not being saved due to the crashes. Very frustrating, especially since the textbooks are very expensive and now I cannot read it!!
  • Ruining My Education

This app crashes every 10 minutes... and the only way I was able to get a copy of the textbook was through an ebook version on the kindle app. The kindle app - not on my perfectly functional kindle, but on my laptop. Why I can't look at my textbook on my actual kindle that I purchased I have no idea, but with the app crashing every 10 minutes when I spent $100 on the textbook makes me question why Jeff Bezos is a billionare considering all his stuff is crap. (I have amazon echo buds too - what a scam).

  • Text to Speech No longer Works

    By Leslienc
My wife recently updated her MacBook Pro M1 to the latest version of MacOS Ventura and apprently after update the text to speech function stopped working. Apparently from reading the message boards on Apple that this is a Amazon Kindle application issue and not an Apple issue. If Amazon or the developers of the Kindle app could update the application so taht when you activate the text to speech function that it would work with the Mac to actually start talking again that would be most appreciated.

It is unusable, crashes when highlighting, in split view, etc.
  • Worst MAC OS reading app

    By Scott the Grad Student
As a graduate student that has used several reading apps for study, Kindle is THE WORST app. It constantly shutsdown and must be reopened. It has no features - you can't change found size, you can't listen to text, etc. It does not have a scrolling capability. It is basically useless for any kind of academic work. Horrible!
  • What use is a book reading app that doesn't allow you to to read the book you bought with it

    By H2O Forrest
I've bought an e-textbnook for class, avaialble on Kindle. It shows up in my Kindle library. It is viewable on kindle in the browser version of Kindle. However, it the mac apps says it needs to be updated for me to be able to view the book on the app. The app is fully updated and no update is available
