WSJ is my most trusted news source, but I am so tired of having to log in every time I want to read an article. This is my only non work app that does this. I pay, please fix your login.

I love the WSJ. The reporting is excellent. The app is visually appealing as well. I just wish the iOS version included the crossword!!! It’s on the iPadOS version but not in the iOS version. 🙁

…Never have I seen an app go from best to worst in the blink of an eye. The update that was initially released last year is simply put AWFUL. What’s most shocking is that here we are a year later and the app is little improved. WSJ — get your act together!

I cancelled back in November, but keep checking in every couple of weeks to see if the reviews have improved. Ver 13 and earlier were perfect on iPad. I’ll check back in April . I’m not paying a premium for a product until it delivers the premium experience wsj journalism deserves.

  • Awful app despite recent “ improved” update

I am so frustrated by this app. Despite the many shortcomings by far the most annoying is the inability to use 2 fingers to stretch ( enlarge) articles. This is such a basic function yet the app developers at THE WSJ can’t seem to program this. Why !!!! Despite several updates to the app very little change in functionality. One of the most basic functions is absent The lack of 2 finger zoom ability is astounding. It is so basic yet the WSJ app lacks this feature for all articles. Truly pathetic. Updates!!!! These are bloody joke. More updates but no meaningful change really. Is this a bloody joke. New update with very little improvement. Under the “World” Section there are 3 articles. Even my local newspaper has better coverage. Even worse the app does not refresh without closing and opening it. Down loaded the update 11/9. The app no longer opens. No point having a WSJ subscription. And who ever heard of a webpage that you are unable to stretch ( enlarge) the print with 2 fingers. Which buffoons designed the app? Update. After several weeks an additional update was released They simply moved the “sections” from left top to right top (as I am finally getting used to it) and added “Previous” at the top left. Who are the the buffoons writing code and approving these ridiculous “ upgrades”. Just bring back the prior version. Until then I have cancelled my subscription. WSJ app went from hero to zero in 1 update. There are literally hundreds of negative reviews. The journal weak response to some of these reviews is; we (WSJ developers) think it’s better and it takes time for users to adapt to a new format. Rubbish! I have enjoyed reading the digital version for many years. In the past I had the ability to see on overview of each section and choose any article in a particular section. I particularly enjoyed the weekend edition as I could scroll to the Review or Lifestyle section and enjoy some light hearted articles. With the new version it is impossible to tell if I am reading the most current newspaper or the prior days. Sections such as Review are not even listed. I am spending more time navigating the app then reading articles. I did receive a email from the WSJ chief experience officer explaining that changes had been made and they would be adding some features from the old app. This is too little to late. May I suggest that the WSJ simple turn on the hold app while they try to resolve the major dissatisfaction with the new app. As for Daniel Bernard the chief experience officer I suggest he look for experience at a new job.

  • App does not automatically update any more!

The digital experience continues to be poor for a paper with the stature of the WSJ. The latest version does not automatically update to the latest news and the latest print version when I open it. I have to close it and read-open it to get it to update. Can you please fix it to update automatically when opened, like all other news apps do?
