GO BEYOND PAPER Turn your iPhone or iPad into a book with the free Kindle app—so you can read anytime, anywhere. Explore these reading features in the Kindle app: • Read your way. Customize your text size, font type, margins, text alignment, and orientation (portrait or landscape)—and choose whether to turn pages from left to right or continuously scroll. Read comfortably day and night with adjustable brightness and background colors. Go to the Aa menu in your book to get started. • Look up words, people, and places while you read. Breeze through words you don’t know and characters you can’t remember with the built-in dictionary, X-Ray, Wikipedia lookup, instant translations, and search within your book. Simply tap and hold a word to view its definition, or use the Google and Wikipedia links to get more information. • Track your reading progress. See what percent of the book you’ve read, real page numbers (for most top titles), and how much time you have left in the chapter or book based on your actual reading speed. • Bookmark places you want to revisit, and make highlights and take notes throughout your book. Open My Notebook to see all your notes in the same place. • Hop, skim, and jump with Page Flip. Flip between pages or get a bird’s-eye view of your book with Page Flip—don’t worry, we’ll save your place. • Zoom in on high-definition color images in Kindle books, magazines, comics, and manga. • Sync your books across devices. When you’re reading a book, the Kindle app will automatically sync where you left off—along with any bookmarks, highlights, or notes—so you can start reading on one device and pick up where you left off on another. • When you can’t read, listen. Switch seamlessly from reading your Kindle book to listening to the Audible book, all within the Kindle app. • Get notified when authors you love have new releases. By using this app, you agree to Amazon’s Conditions of Use (www.amazon.com/conditionsofuse) and Privacy Notice (www.amazon.com/privacy).

  • Love My Kindle App

This was the best gift my husband has ever given me! Many years ago, he got me the Paperwhite Kindle. We have a place at the beach, so reading the kindle on the beach was just like reading a paperback book. Then he gave me an IPad, so I downloaded the Kindle app. So now, no matter where I go I can read with the app on my phone or IPad. I especially love reading with my IPad in bed at night so I don’t have to have a bright light on. Last but not least, unfortunately my vision is starting to get worse, but, I can increase the font size and read great! You can’t go wrong with KINDLE!
  • This new app is horrible compared to the ‘classic’!

I was forced to download this new version of the Kindle app, as some books I had bought were no longer available to read in the older version. This new version has absolutely no features. NO SIDEBAR, no way to group my library in to categories, no way to change the page view, no way to look at the notes or bookmarks, NOTHING! Why did they have to ruin a perfectly awesome app????
  • Disappointed

I use it a lot. Even though I have kindle unlimited. When I download a book that is audio enabled I have to uninstall the app and re install it for every new book. Otherwise it does not give me the ability to listen to the audio version of the book.

If you could buy the books directly from the app instead of Amazon it’d be 5stars

Kindle has changed my reading habits. Low cost books. Carry “conveniently” anywhere. Visually easier on my eyes with varying light conditions. If I wish, many books can be read to me while traveling
  • Completely useless after update

What are you thinking? Why take away features? No one likes to read full screen. Everyone likes around 60 -70 characters for ease of reading...why not expose that option. I cannot use this. It makes my eyes bleed.
  • Keep Up

Too often when you go from one reader to another, it doesn’t keep up with what you last read.
  • Kindle cannot remember my location

I don’t know when this problem started, but it’s annoying and frustrating. After I finish reading part of a book, I always set the marker so I can see where I left off. But when I come back to resume reading, the Kindle is very often on a page that is not even close to where I set the marker. If I select “go to furthest point read,” there is no telling where I might end up, but it is very unlikely to be the actual furthest point read. And all of that happens when I’m using one device. If I’m reading on both my computer and iPad, keeping track of my reading location is nearly impossible. Apple REALLY screwed up the Kindle in this way. I wish I could find a replacement app.

Love that I can read at anytime, in the dark while in bed or at work without worrying about messing up my book or having light! I do love me a hard cover but again it’s just so convenient ❤️
