  • New update made me buy premium

Like the removal of the meals. The only thing that matters is having less calories each day
  • Jan 2025 app update

I’ve used Lifesum for years and they did a recent AI overhaul and I hate it. I l deleted my subscription because it is no longer user friendly and incredibly difficult to adjust to all the new things.
  • New Multimodal AI tracking is terrible

The new Multimodal tracking is absolutely terrible. It makes adding food with multiple ingredients painful and tedious. Not able to go back and add ingredients a meal. Hard to specify if the meal is for breakfast lunch or dinner. End up with a dozen entries of single ingredients at the end of the day and not able to see the macros for the full meal this way.
  • Update makes app unusable

I can’t even figure out how to track my meals after this recent update. Not intuitive at all and regret letting my annual subscription renew. Absolutely waste of money unless they give the option to go back to the old version. Very disappointing.
  • Too many redesigns!

Lifesum used to be such a user-friendly app, but they seem to be obsessed with completely overhauling the app every other update. It’s so frustrating because each update where they redesign it seems to make it worse (from what I’ve seen, and I’ve used it off and on since like 2017 I believe). This new update is the worst and is not easy to use at all. Lifesum, PLEASE hire a true UX designer to do user studies for you and make an update similar to the last one (at least), or better yet, to the way it was in 2017. Sorry to say, but the designers you’re hiring are not good (or you’re not giving them good direction, idk). If it doesn’t change I think I’ll have to switch back to Noom or something. Signed, a user experience designer
  • Constantly frozen otherwise good app

I’ve been using this app for a while, generally like it, but it freezes so often I have to constantly quit and restart like after every single item’s entry sometimes. This should not be happening honestly. Is it only me? I thought it was my phone, but just switched from iPhone 12 Pro to 16 pro, the issue actually got worse…. Edit: changing from 3 star to 1. Randomly frozen and losing data is happening more and more often. How did this quality of coding pass your QA process? Do you have any?
  • Some features not working

Just got the app premium package, im trying to delete some meal from favorites for example it says something went wrong. I’m also trying to change my protein daily goal and it’s not working either. So far too many problems for the first day I guess.
  • Update Makes This Unusable

The new multimodal tracking is making this app unusable. I’ve found that eating similar things every day works well for me to lose weight. The old Lifesum made it easy to repetitively add a bunch of things you eat regularly all at once. Now, not so much. It’s difficult to add the same things over several days and since I don’t immediately track what I eat when I’ve eaten it, everything gets automatically logged as dinner (if I’m inputting in the evening). Sometimes I can change an entry to another meal but not always. Just very, very disappointing. Look AI is cool or whatever but just let me track my meals how I want to.
  • Issues with the new Update

I use to love this app and would use it regularly to track my calories/protein intake when I was training. Unfortunately, while the features of the new update are nice on a surface level- it’s made the app increasingly slow and difficult to use. The “write-in” food tracking system only actually adds the food to my daily log half the time- causing me to have write it in multiple times. The “quick track” feature is by far the worst offender as it opens up a menu to write in more detail caloric information and the menus that use to pop up first (favorites and recents) load very slowly and often have issues with added food to the daily food log. It also only tracks one item at a time so I’m forced to re-open and re-search or scroll through the laggy menu.
  • Merge the tracking methods…

The new AI method is cool, and it ends there. It makes no sense to me why the old method (clearly organized by breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks) cannot be used with the new multimodal approach. Why can’t I use the photo feature and cleanly track with the old layout? Once that is fixed, back to five stars. Right now, this is a good example of “what if we used AI and took out everything else helpful”. Is this a beta? The new multi method doesn’t let you add food manually easily (favorites and recents impossible to find and add quickly) which is far more common in my use. Tried taking a photo of an egg sandwich and it shorted the bread calories by 35% and thought there was one egg instead of three. Failure. Couldn’t get a two ingredient sandwich right. I do think this is useful when you cook something or eat out and don’t know how to track and just need a guess, that’s the ideal use case for this, not as the primary way to track. That is a game changer, as I often fall behind in tracking in restaurant situations. Also, All the food just ends up in one long list instead of cleanly organized and requires timely completion of tracking (rather than flexibility to add at the end of the day). The font looks like back end code garbage. Please MERGE this feature with the old layout. I should be able to click breakfast, add, and then take a photo or click on recent/favorites. Then this will be a great addition to the app, just not as an entirely different tracking method. It’s cool, but not yet usefully optimized. Moved down another star after trying the AI voice. Tried to say “salmon bowl with” and then list the ingredients/toppings that went in the bowl. No matter what I did it stopped at “salmon bowl with salmon” and then despite having the same input, gave two very different calorie totals
