Description

Post items on your local feed just like you would post a picture on Instagram. If you have a porch, you can set it outside on your porch and we'll take care of the rest. If you don't have a porch or you can't set the item outside for some reason, that's okay too, you can create a scheduled pickup directly in the app, without having to message with folks. Neighbors who are nearby can get alerts when you post something, so you'll always know that your neighbors will have first dibs. If the item is already outside then neighbors can swing by and pick it up all via the app, in the same way that you might have your groceries or pizza delivered. • Better than Nextdoor/Craigslist

The user experience is far better than the ad bombardment on Nextdoor or the spam garbage dump on Craigslist, but 1) you don’t get an email notification when someone cancels a pickup (at least force the person to message me so I can go and retrieve my item), and 2) you can’t send photos via DM so you can’t show where you left your item for pickup. If I was building this app, I would add an upvote/downvote system (or even a self-reported “item condition” filter) to reduce visibility of the lower quality items, which is always a huge hassle to sort through. Last but not least, as with other local apps (e.g. Bold Reuse), it’s virtually useless beyond Portland city limits. Don’t bother if you live in Beaverton or Hillsboro.

I’ve gotten a ton of amazing things for my children especially. Amazing app. I’ve been able to gift things too and I love the sharing values
  • app of my dreams

This is the app I have been waiting for! Declutter, reduce, reuse, share, provide, and seamlessly get this thing that I no long want out of my house and into the hands of someone else! Freeya makes the joy of less less of a pain. I actually look forward to finding things to give away, rather than packing up a bag of undesirables that end up in my trunk for 6 months, always dreading the slog to a donation center. Posting is easy, pick up is easier and I love seeing the thoughtful and thankful comments from folks who benefit from my purge. Plus instead of doom scrolling I can Freeya troll for treasures! Freeya mind, the mess will follow.

Super easy to use - really straightforward app. It’s easy to post items, easy to arrange scheduled pickups. We’ve cleared out so many things, and I’m so glad that others can use them instead of going to the landfill.

Before Freeya came along I had been wanting an app like this so much that I started to develop one myself. Freeya is waaaay better than what I came up with, though. Now I’m moving out of Portland and I’ll miss Freeya, but I’m very thankful for the app for helping me get rid of tons of stuff easily.

A friend told me about this app and I thought, sure another “stuff” app, but I went to it and I’m really glad I did! The app has every type thing you could possibly be looking for as well as a ton of stuff you didn’t know you needed. It’s easy to use, no confusing steps or roadblocks. Just browse, click and pick up! Most of the time you don’t have to schedule with anyone, making pick-up very easy. I’ve told all of my friends and if you’re reading this maybe you’ ll find some great Freeya finds.
  • Dead app

Only a single listing on offer for 100mi! App will only take street address and not zip code for simply window shopping. Don’t really care for handing over my data just to have a look. My zip code should be more than enough for a rough location estimate to see what kinds of things people list. The only listing was for baby food. I can’t think of anything worse that people should not get for free from strangers than baby food.

Love how you can set up notifications for a search term! You can get stuff you need for free and regime things to keep them out of the waste stream. Obsessed already.
  • If not available near me, why push it?

I have no idea why this app was pushed as something to join when it isn’t available anywhere near me. I broadened my search parameters from Virginia to Toronto, and still nothing came up. Stop marketing in territories you don’t serve.

I listed an IKEA table. Got endless questions from people asking if it is still available (the listing would be gone if it wasn’t) or when I’m available for pickup (scheduling a pickup is supposed to sort this out). I’ll stick to giving away stuff on CL and Nextdoor.
