Description

Note is a place to form ideas, experiment with sounds and find direction. Get your ideas out or play until inspiration hits using a selection of Ableton Live’s drum kits, synths and melodic instruments. Or create your own sound palette by recording the sounds around you into Note’s sampler instruments using your phone’s microphone. Take your ideas further by sending your projects to Live without leaving the app using Ableton Cloud. Open projects from Live’s browser and keep working – you can edit all your MIDI notes, and all your samples and sounds from Note are exactly the same. Ableton Note users will receive a free license for Ableton Live Lite – simple, intuitive software used by musicians, producers and DJs around the world to write, record, and perform. Begin with a beat: • Choose from 56 Drum Sampler kits • Tap out a beat using the 16-pad grid • Quantize your beat to fix loose timing • Nudge notes to correct mistakes • Add more layers of rhythm • Create beat repetitions with Note Repeat • Change parameters to shape your sound • Experiment with effects or apply swing for variations Start with a melody: • Choose from 261 synth sounds and 36 Melodic Sampler instruments • Play your melody or chord progression with either the 25-pad grid or piano roll • Set a key and scale to get instantly harmonic results • Overdub more layers of harmony • Change parameters to shape your sound • Add effects to experiment with sound design Sample your environment: • Create your own kits by recording percussive sounds into Note’s Drum Sampler • Record tonal sounds to create your own Melodic Sampler instruments • Manipulate your samples by cutting, filtering or repitching them • Shape or transform your sounds with effects • Import your own samples or audio directly from videos Capture improvisations: • Play something, then tap the Capture button to keep it • Play at a tempo that feels comfortable and Note will detect it • Note will recognize the length of the phrase and create a loop • Quantize it, add to it, or change the sound • Connect MIDI hardware to play keys and change the sound of your instruments Create variations: • Note features a grid-based Session View layout • Double your loops to create variation within clips • Duplicate your clips and create different versions of your ideas • Create eight tracks with up to eight clips on eight scenes • Try different clip combinations and song structures • Export your work as an audio file to listen and share

  • Worth it

Just buy it. I don’t even really use it to start ideas, I use it HEAVILY for capturing samples in the world and using Ableton cloud I can then use those sounds later at home in new sets or projects. That alone is worth it. On top of that it’s really good for starting ideas, could be more fleshed out but I mean it’s not meant to be Ableton suite on ur phone. That’d be a stupid idea for Ableton as a company, and honestly who wants a fully featured daw on their phone? That seems so clunky and hard to manage a good work flow in. Yeah 10/10 would recommend for sample capturing/recording feature alone. After that, still well worth for starting ideas on the go. But it

If I could put more than one instrument or group tracks then we r on fire, also a feature to better slice samples/ more original load/sample file locations… show I use this, is via audio jack connector into an interface (volt 4, or scarlett), so having highest quality 48khz 24bit sound output into that is huge. TYSM!!!

  • Midi Controls

The app is great. Don’t expect a DAW because there’s no arrangement mode. It’s more of a mini-Ableton-super-looper. My biggest issues with the app are the lack of midi controls. 1. Writing notes - Why cant we just click in the midi? Playing everything is fun, dont get me wrong but the midi control system is not intuitive enough yet to have playing be the only option. Would speed up work flow for most I'm sure. 2. Changing Note length - Nudging is a great tool but if we could just drag to change the note length that would be a lot better. A legato feature would be incredibly useful as well especially when trying to extend a handful of notes, nudging is very slow in that regard 3. Moving notes - Drag and drop should be an option to move notes

I got excited when i saw that it had a velocity keyboard thats why i bought it, but then i realized its only for ipad.. the issue is if i had my ipad id have access to a midi controller the only time I would need velocity on screen is with my phone in fact if i had my ipad i probably would use a more fully featured DAW. Based on the ethos of this app you’d think the focus would be on the iPhone
  • Missing time signatures

Please update and implement time signatures for the project. Crazy feature to be missing.
  • Everything is perfect. The only thing is missing is side chaining

I love this app. The only thing I'm really need for digital audio workstation app is a side chain or compression to make sidechain or compress the audio or instrument
  • Rating this specific feature not the whole app

That thing when you highlight a specific count and can duplicate or crop or delete, When duplicating, its glitched and shows it replacing the next count rather than just adding aka duplicating. Once you highlight its difficult to unhighlight or at least I haven’t figured it out and it was much simpler to swipe left or right to duplicate and delete. And whats with the way the knobs reset or the notes change on their own? Other than that love it.

This app is amazing. It has more features than I thought. Many ways to “manipulate” your sounds.
  • Goes a lot deeper than you think

I have a ton of audio apps and I also beta test a ton of apps-so I know a good app from a bad or just OK app. I will tell you when I first opened it up I was not impressed. I thought it looked a little similar to that horrible Reason Compact app until I used it and realized that this app is fabulous. I didn’t know it even had all the features it has until I watched some demo videos and was pretty impressed. This app goes deeper than you think-it will pleasantly surprise you. I have a feeling the devs will keep up with updates and making this app even better. To the devs-Thank you for making a great iOS app at a wonderful price!’
