  • Used to be good before paywalls

    Used to be good. Had the subscription, but now they block series with pay walls even if you have a subscription. Don’t waste your time, webtoons is better. At least webtoons gives you the option of free daily pass or watch ads to unlock an episode unlike manta now blocking full series behind paywalls.

    I’ve been subscribed for years which was perfect. Loved the mangas then they started removing(understand licensing and all) again I understand. However! Now you subscribe AND have to pay for gems. I don’t even mind paying for coins/gems/points whatever I prefer it honestly since then the chapters are mine. But I hate both.

    I used to like manta more but recently they made so many stories only free with subscription. 6 of the stories i was reading were changed so i can’t finish them now. I would recommend Webtoon over manta any day.

  • Not really a subscription model anymore

    Manta Unlimited is the subscription model they use which used to allow you to read all comics on the app. Now it only allows you to read some and the rest you have to pay for. If you want to read a novel, you also have to pay for that using diamonds (not included in the subscription). Why am I paying more when I already pay for the subscription so I can read as much as I want? That’s what I signed up for in the beginning…

    I’ve subscribed for so long and now all of the sudden they have gems the reason I subscribed in the first place is because of the unlimited feature and now I have to pay for gems? Unsubscribing for sure.

    I was a pretty big fan of Manta until they recently moved to a combination of subscription service plus pay per episode and now it seems like the only new releases are pay only, which is making my subscription much less worth having. At least with other platforms that have a subscription and pay per episode model you get some small amount of coins (or whatever the currency is called) as a part of the monthly fee. At this point there are fewer and fewer things left to read in the categories I care about and once my ongoing comics complete, I’ll be cancelling.

    For some reason my app isn’t working. I’ve been reading a lot of the reviews and it seems like this app is going down hill. I wish I would’ve gotten more for my subscription. Apps not working for me and there’s no update so I’m canceling my subscription.

  • No longer worth it

    I’ve been a subscriber for years and immediately jumped on the yearly plan when it launched because I enjoyed the app so much. However, now that they dropped all the gem only titles, I’ve cancelled and won’t be renewing. They are using licensing of titles like a shield to justify changing their model but at the end of the day, they see the money apps like WEBTOON or Tapas make on the pay by chapter model. You are better off using Webtoon, there’s nothing on this app that’s worth the markup they have for gems.

    I love this app and pay for a subscription monthly. After paying they are now making us pay for gems to read each story. Why do I need to pay for the story if I’ve already paid for the subscription?

    I’ve been an unlimited subscriber for years now and have absolutely loved the app. But now all my favorites are locked behind a gem system? What’s the point of the unlimited subscription if I have to still pay more? I love this app. It’s great quality and easy to use. But I’m so frustrated that more pay walls are being put up. I’m all about paying the artists fairly. But why not just raise the subscription? This is why I loved using Manta rather than any other Manwa apps… So disappointing..
