  • Makes the iPad & Apple Pencil Shine for 3D Modeling

If you do any kind of modeling of organic shapes, characters, etc., and you don’t want to spend a fortune on high-end software, this app is an incredible value and a solid experience. I’ve been able to create models with Nomad I couldn’t have dreamed of doing in a reasonable amount of time in Blender. They have 3D printed very well, and the voxel remeshing helps a ton. Sometimes I get into trouble with artifacts in the mesh that can be fixed with some remeshing and merging a fresh shape. The built-in rendering is good enough for my needs for basic output and a big help to have. I haven’t done as much texture painting, but again, I got results quickly. App has been stable on M2 iPad Pro. The UI is a bit non-standard in places. Overall highly recommend.

Bought this after viewing a few post on social media and thought I’d give it a try. After a day or so I got used to it. I like it a lot. Though, I won’t lie, I wish I discovered the autosave feature before encountering a bug that crashed the app and killed a project. Nothing too bad but yikes. Oh and the bug seamed quiet repeatable, all I did was attempt to delete a light instance from the … tab that shows up when you click the light object. Seams to happen to any of the three light types Aside that, very clean and fun to use

I’ve been a professional Zbrush user for over a decade. I’ve always felt this disconnect between myself as an artist and the various computers and Wacom tablets I’ve used over the years. I’m sure other artists are familiar with the feeling. We all grew up drawing in sketch pads using pencils or crayons. Art has historically always been a very physical and analogue activity. It feels jarring to do art by looking up at a screen while your hands are down on your desk drawing on a tablet. It’s doable obviously but not ideal. This is how I used Zbrush since 2010. “Some day,” I joked “I’ll be able to do Zbrush in bed. That’s the real dream” I eventually invested in a windows surface studio laptop. It was very expensive at the time but their pen was perhaps even better than the Apple Pencil. Finally, I could draw directly on a screen! But it wasn’t the perfect solution. The laptop had a miserable battery life and was quite heavy. So in the end I was still bound to my desk when doing art. I’m a bit late to the game but imagine my excitement when I stumbled across Nomad. This program that solves the issues I’ve had with digital art for the last decade! I invested in an iPad Pro and I’ve never looked back. To be able to do high poly 3D sculpting on a device that’s smaller and lighter than many books is really something else. Finally I can sculpt in bed or on the couch or at the park or on a plane. I’m no longer bound to my desk. I don’t have to haul some heavy tablet out of a drawer or plug anything in. I can simply grab my iPad whenever the inspiration strikes and just go wild. The program itself is amazing. I can see why the 3D community sings its praises so much. I love being able to save camera angles that correspond with different reference images and even set them to orthographic of perspective views. The tube tool has been vital and a joy to work with. The UI is intuitive and easy to get the hang of. This program combined with the convenience of using it on an iPad is an absolute game changer. Every day I can’t believe that this program is completely free. My ONLY complaint is that the topology tools leave something to be desired. They aren’t BAD but I’m used to Zbrush topology tools which are the best there is. If Nomad can improve their topology tools to be similar to Zbrush it would be the perfect 3D sculpting program. Cheers to the team behind this app for having such a huge positive impact on 3D sculpting as a discipline/hobby

When I exported my sculpt to blender, I couldn’t retopologize on top of it. It’s really disappointing for this great app to have such a problem

I’ve wanted to learn 3D modeling/sculpting for years, but I never sat down and took the time to commit to learning - mostly because of the cost and needing a PC to have a robust sculpting program. I tried Nomad a few years ago and while it seemed good at the time, it felt like it wasn’t complete. Fast forward to today, I’m finishing my first tutorial and I’m loving it. Nomad has given me the inspiration to FINALLY learn sculpting. Just buy the app, start any tutorial from Dave Reed and go for it. You won’t be disappointed.
  • Great Sculpting App, but…

All is good except for by default you can move the view with the stylus if you try to make small details it according to reference, you end up having to change settings on and off or adjust your view dozens of times before achieving a small tweak. Makes the app so frustrating to use sometimes. Almost a dealbreaker.

  • Subscription?

I’d give a better review but I still can’t find anything on the app pages saying there is a subscription yet I’m being charged every month since I bought it. Now I can’t find any place to cancel. Rip off!!

As an artist of 13 years of Blender 3D experience, I am so happy to have found this app. It doesn’t need a super powerful iPad, I’m working on an old 6th gen with just 32 GB, but I transfer all of my projects on an SD card to my PC to Blender. The same from PC to iPad. It’s apps like these that are just gems, and the one time payment is a blessing compared to Maxon Forger. I can’t imagine how much ZBrush is going to be on the iPad, (if Maxon even does a reasonable subscription.) So please keep supporting this app. It means a lot to smaller artists who can’t regularly buy more expensive apps like ZBrush every year/month. ❤️✨❤️✨💖✨💎💎💎
  • Amazing Sculpting app

Really easy to start up and work with, in combination with the tons of online tutorials it’s super easy to learn and do anything. Only thing I’d want to add would be the ability to store projects the reference images in folders to keep projects more organized. Overall amazing quality.
