Description

Halo is a new approach to improving your health—a membership that provides you with innovative tools, personalized data and insights, and an ever-growing library of premium content designed to help you build healthier habits for life. This app requires a Halo device. Key features: DISCOVER • Explore an ever-growing library of premium and on-demand workouts, daily meditations, as well as nutrition and sleep support. • Simple, measurable programs help you see the impact that small changes can make on how feel–like whether meditating improves your focus, or if a pet-free bedroom improves your sleep quality. ACTIVITY • Informed by guidelines from the American Heart Association, Halo measures the intensity of your activity in addition to tracking steps and sedentary time. This means that working harder—like taking two stairs at a time, or going for a jog—helps you reach your weekly goals faster. SLEEP • Analyze your sleep patterns, like how long it takes you to fall asleep, how much you wake up at night, and how long you spend in each sleep stage. NUTRITION • Get a tailored weekly menu that can be synced with your Halo app grocery list, your Alexa shopping list, or the Whole Foods app to make meal prep even easier. • Add recipe ingredients or standalone items to your grocery list anytime. • Browse and get inspiration with hundreds of nutritious recipes. MOVEMENT • Halo uses your smartphone’s camera to accurately measure your mobility, stability, and posture, and then provides a custom set of corrective exercises to help you improve over time. BODY COMPOSITION • Halo's Body feature is nearly twice as accurate as leading at-home smart scales. • Body uses your smartphone’s camera to determine your body fat percentage, which is a better indicator of health than weight or BMI alone. • A personalized 3D model helps you track changes. CONTROL AT YOUR FINGERTIPS • Get phone call and text notifications, start live workouts, and get move reminders right from your wrist with Halo View fitness tracker (sold separately). TONE OF VOICE ANALYSIS • Halo analyzes the positivity and energy of your voice to help you learn how you may sound to others. • Doesn’t “capture data”

Wearing the band is awkward as is, but I’m doing this so that I can get better sleep by using the prescribed reports. Unfortunately I keep getting little to zero data captured. For the past week it’s only captured data for two nights and even then it only captured maybe five out of the nine hours of laying down and resting. I tried adjusting the wristband and that didn’t change anything and I also try to make sure not to sleep on it, which is counterproductive to having the device on my arm because then I wake up more worried that I am not wearing the device properly so that I can get the data from it. Either this device doesn’t understand the human functions with digital tracking of the heart rate and sleep patterns or is it simply made and not ready for production or use.

Sleep tracking needs a lot of improvement. It doesn't actually register sleep unless it's during normal sleep hours. Naps need to count, not everyone can physically sleep enough in one chunk of sleep. One of them continually shuts off as soon as it's taken off, and takes thirty minutes of playing with the charger to get it to actually try to find a signal again. the watch. It's great and easy to use. The app is pretty good also, although I would like more sleep help options, also it says that all three of us are sleeping very badly. My boyfriend's band says he is awake, when he is snoring. I know it's not right. Maybe we could have an option to actually say I'm going to bed and I'm up, naps aren't considered as sleep either. I'm sure it's considered sedentary time, but that's how some people get their sleep, I'm disabled and pain sometimes keeps me up, maybe we are dreaming during the night and the app thinks we are awake? Also one of our watches just today decided that it doesn't want to be con ected to the phone except when it's plugged in. I have reset the phone and app but it's still not working, so there is also that.

I rarely write reviews, but this device and the Amazon halo app itself has motivated me to push me to reach my goals and gave me help with in-app lessons and I am slowly working and increasing my mobility/movement. I highly recommend this I personally have the halo view and it’s like perfect and not overwhelming. 10/10!

This is easy to set up and is very user friendly. I like this better than the fit bit. The only thing that would make this better is an easier way to get the band on and off because it will break.
  • It’s ok, but pretty lazy from Amazon

The band itself is good but the app could be brought into 2023. I have NO CLUE why there is not any kind of widget for this app nor why I can’t sync with Apple Health, both would be great but at least one is needed. You also cannot update your weight without taking a whole body scan. You also cannot change you sleep schedule if you work nights.
  • Alarm fails to set with unexpected error.

Some aspects of this are helpful for health - not to be confused or conflated with SIZE - while some (many) are a setup or compounding factor for disordered eating or eating disorders and other issues that do not promote actual health. The menu section, which I admittedly like much of, is riddled with classist recipes - lots of ingredients that aren't realistic for many because of price point, availability etc. It is also fraught with diet culture tips, like calling for fat free ingredients in places it's absolutely not necessary. Our bodies NEED fat, protein and carbs, and constantly flagging any of the macros as undesirable is not in the name is health - especially not in recipes that themselves are already inherently healthy. Step tracking is helpful for me personally, but the activity tracking is problematic - e. g. spent three hours cleaning a house today, complete with a full sweat etc, and the app marked that time as *sedentary.* So instead of one hour driving (sedentary) and three hours very active, it counted four hours sedentary. For people with ANY kind of exercise issues, eating disorder history or tendencies, etc, this kind of thing is quite harmful. Additionally, for those with physical limitations/disabilities who're doing the very best they can, the shaming act of docking points for being "sedentary" is ableist and lacking understanding that activity is relative and unique for each person. The sleep tracker is especially helpful to me, though the aforementioned activity tracking gives me pause and questions about the accuracy of the sleep tracker. Some other issues I see are that there aren't exercises/movement options for people with limited mobility/disabilities, lack of representation of body types, and there is a plug for using (leading to obsessing over) the BMI. I will keep the band for tracking my heart rate and steps, but will likely delete and cancel the app membership because there's just too much that is either actively harmful or potentially so. I think the potential is here for something genuinely excellent, but there seems to be a long way to go.
  • Not Syncing any longer

Day 5 maybe and the display on my Halo won’t turn on, won’t show time or any display at all. Cannot activate by tapping the home, swiping or anything. It’s already been recharged before this happened, not related to charge. My phone app showed no connection. I got it to sync, went to bed and woke up to find same issue. Black screen on halo view band, not synced. No data. :( not working in just one week, very disappointing.
