  • Not with the judgey AI they use now.

This used to be my absolute favorite program to use and worth every penny. Now, Grammarly, let's its AI give a judgey opinon on what I write. "That's unethical to tell someone" It's none of AI's business why I want to write about something, especially when it's G rated and not threating anyone. No thank you. Stop telling the AI to scold people, the AI has no idea what is going on. If you are writing a book or script about something edgey or recounting a crime, forget about that too.

Running the Grammerly Safari extention REQUIRES a minimum of 1.78GB of memeory. Unrelated but related, iOS keyboard is a nightmare to type with
  • Good but AI is going to kill it.

I like Grammarly, but AI is starting to overtake its usefulness. An Apple Mail integration would be a beneficial upgrade. However, Apple proably wouldn't allow it.
  • Great with academic writing

Grammarly is a great program for academic, business or email drafts but it doesn't do well with resumes. It continues to want to correct action words in present tense instead of past tense under employment history. Developers is the a feature that you can include specifically for resumes or cover letters?
  • Great service but I dislike the Mac integration

I really dislike the way they chose to implement the Mac and iOS support. It's nowhere near as helpful as the website.
  • Just dismal. Expensive and does not work

Just a total con. Terrible system with no logic, systems that disappear all the time, weird interface. Just miserable. How do companies like this survive when their products are so useless?
  • Breaks existing MacOS apps and is not useful for writing about world news

After installing Grammarly on my Mac, I encountered a problem where the ThinkOrSwim app by TDAmeritrade stopped working. I contacted TDAmeritrade's support and spent several hours trying to resolve the issue. Finally, a ThinkOrSwim representative suggested removing the Grammarly app from my Mac. Once I uninstalled Grammarly, the problem with ThinkOrSwim and other broken programs vanished. Apart from causing compatibility issues, the Grammarly app also blocks edits on content it considers offensive. This censorship makes it hard to improve content in news articles that discuss violence or other sensitive topics, making the AI tool less useful. Due to its limitations and potential frustrations for writers, there are better choices than Grammarly, with the availability of Google's Gemini, X's Grok, and Microsoft's Copilot. Since I cannot use Grammarly to improve my writing for news articles about war, violence, and terrorists worldwide, I have canceled my Grammarly paid subscription and switched to Microsoft's CoPilot with Grok to supplement my editing. Edit on 2/27/2024 ------------------ Grammarly quickly responded to my review regarding the their desktop app incompatibility with ThinkOrSwim on MacOS and invited me to help them resolve the problem with their app. They further addressed my second concern regarding Grammarly's generative AI tool for improving content deemed socially inappropriate. Here is one example of what is considered sensitive content by their tools. "Every time I see the video showing Yahya Sinwar's niece, my heart breaks for the lost lives and childhoods of children throughout Israel and Gaza." The message displayed for my attempt to improve this text is, "Can’t help with this text Grammarly assistance is unavailable for the selected text because it may contain sensitive content. Try something else." I indeed have tried something else, the freel version of Copilot by Microsoft. Copilot's response to this prompt? "Every time I witness the video featuring Yahya Sinwar’s niece, my heart aches for the countless lives and childhoods that have been shattered amidst the conflict in Israel and Gaza." And the response from Grok on the X platform, "Every time the video of Yahya Sinwar's niece is seen, it is heartbreaking to witness the lost lives and stolen childhoods of innocent children in both Israel and Gaza". Since I've now concluded that Grammarly is not a useful tool to pay for, I am declining their invitation to help resolve their app compatibility issue on MacOS and canceled the paid premium Grammarly subscription.

Quotes of Martin Luhter King are often quashed as 'serious content.' I can hardly write my friends emails, or prepare a sermon, without being judged by Grammarly. Feels awfully racist here.
