I have used TaxBird for years to track and document our days spent in the states where we have houses. Mostly intuitive , generally easy to use. Well worth the modest annual cost.

Very easy to set up and then runs in the background. Support team has been very responsive when I needed help with something. Alerts and quarterly progress reports provide peace of mind that I’m going to reach my goals

I was looking for a simple tool to track the number of days I spend in my state of residence. It does that masterfully! Simple to use, I don’t even think about it yet on any given day of the year it will tell me how many days I’ve spent in each state. It also keeps track of the actual calendar days so I could retrace my whereabouts on any day of the year. Great resource!

I’ve been a subscriber for almost five years. There was a period about one to two years ago following an iOS update that made the app very glitchy and required daily monitoring to make sure locations were being properly recorded. Since that issue was addressed the app works seamlessly in the background and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Just set it and forget it. The effortless record keeping is a pleasure.

Works as advertised for tracking and reporting on your state location for tax purposes. I’ve tried a couple of the other location tracking apps and TaxBird seems to be the most reliable. As others have noted, the UI for planning is a bit psinfull

I have recommend this app to probably a 100 people over the years I have been using the app. It is a must have for anyone claiming residence in a state that does not have state taxes and also have another home in a state that has state taxes.
  • Love it - simple and efficient!

After downloading and adding addresses, you do nothing. Sure beats calendar pages or excel spreadsheets. Plus I get an end of year report that I can forward to our CPA and estate attorney.
  • Tracking is fine. Planning is awful

In addressing my negative concerns. The planning interface is really painful to use. Dates are forced - imagine you decide you’ll be somewhere a week earlier than thought. You first have to change the first plan to reduce its length, then you need to add a new plan in the “unplanned” section- you can’t expand your second plan - the dates are locked because you previously had something there. You need to move things around to accommodate. Very cumbersome. Finally it’s getting location wrong in plans (I select Puerto Rico, it adds “st Pierre and Miquelon”). Then it crashed.
