I have been using Parallels Desktop for years, and it has always been a solid performer. On Apple Silicon, it works quite well for arm64 Linux distributions, which I use for development work.
  • Literally the WORST customer support I've EVER experienced.

Parallels has made a SCIENCE out of avoiding customers. To get support, you need to have either a Facebook or Twitter account. I don't have a Twitter account, so I reached out via FB messages. No response. No way to get through to a person by phone, email, online submission, or any other way. I cannot WAIT until a competitor that treats its customers right puts them in their place. Zero stars.

Terrible support. Doesn't have macOS VM suppot on app store licenses that cost the same as other licenses. Support blantly ignores your comments in messages, if they even get back to you. I will not purchase a product from this company moving forward. I would rather wait for VMWare to come up with a solution to my problems.

You know I always thought that HyperV was decent and for a system wide that ESXi was the best. I have been challenged with that when I started using parallels. It is efficient and streamlined.

The Mac Store version of Parallels works great, and was much easier to install and set up. The Mac Store version seems to use less system resources than the standard version.
  • Not free

The App Store listing leaves you to belive that it is free but it is actually $80. Why not just say that outright?

Installation did not run automatically. I have spent 4-5 hours trying to get windows working. Installation and setup randomly worked just fine on my iMac M1. Now that I am trying on Macbook Pro M1, it is 2 in the morning. I have tried to install multiple times. No Parallel tools will not install and there no network availlable the virtual machine. Nothing about troubleshooting that I am doing is intuitive or seems to be working. Terrible experience. Very disappointing experience. Would not recommend.
